Farmington High School Students Get 'Footloose'
Music, drama, construction and AV kids work together to stage the modern musical.
Farmington High School students are staging the musical "Footloose" March 21-23 in the school auditorium at 7 p.m.
The production is the combined effort of the music, drama, construction, audio visual and art departments.
Music Director Leslie Imse and vocal teacher Christen Hernandez are working with the students on their singing, while Band Director Tom Johnston is leading the orchestra. Students in construction classes have built the play's set, led by teacher Rick Mulcunry. And Evan Foreman's AV students provide microphone setup, sound production and lighting cues.

The musical follows a teenager who moves from a big city to a small town where rock'n'roll and dancing have been banned. He falls for the minister's daughter and begins an effort to overturn the dancing prohibition and hold a prom. The show features dance numbers and now-famous songs such as "Footloose" and "Let's Hear It for the Boy" and follows the teen as he wins over the minister.
"The students are very excited about performing a modern musical!" said Director Katie Buckley.

Tickets for the show are $15 for general admission; $10 for students and are available online at www.showtix4u.com and at the door.
