Farmington Public Schools to Close Early

Afternoon kindergarten and afterschool activities canceled.

Farmington Public Schools will have a two-hour early dismissal Monday due to anticipated inclement weather.

All schools will run on a half day schedule.

There will be no afternoon kindergarten or preschool.  The early dismissal times for all schools are as follows:

  • Farmington High School: 12:23 p.m.
  • Irving A. Robbins Middle School: 12:31 p.m.
  • West Woods Upper Elementary School: 1:15 p.m.
  • All Elementary Schools including East Farms, Noah Wallace, West District and Union:  1:15 p.m.

In addition, all after school activities are cancelled. Continuing Education classes are cancelled as well.  EXCL after school care will follow a regular schedule.

Snow is expected to start falling before 4 p.m., followed by more snow and sleet over the next hour and then freezing rain after 5 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. There could be as much as two inches on the ground by the end of the day and temperatures could reach as high as 33 degrees Fahrenheit, the weather service's website states.

A winter weather advisory and hazardous weather outlook have been issued for Hartford County, according to the National Weather Service, from 1 p.m. Monday to 6 a.m. Tuesday. Driving and walking conditions could become icy, according to the winter weather advisory, so be careful if you need to be out this afternoon.
