Farmington Schools Announce Delay Monday Due to Weather

National Weather Service declares winter weather advisory.

Farmington Public Schools will be delayed for two hours Monday due to anticipated inclement weather, according to the school website.

Morning kindergarten is canceled, but Farmington EXCL will be at its normal location and time.

The National Weather Service has declared a winter weather advisory until 6 p.m. Dec. 9. Snow may accumulate as much as one or two inches with "a trace of ice," possibly changing to freezing rain or sleet before 4 p.m. and rain after that, the weather service's website states. The weather forecast predicts a 100 percent chance of freezing rain. Temperatures at 5 a.m. were about 28 degrees Fahrenheit and Monday's high is 36.

This could cause "hazardous driving conditions, which will affect the Monday morning commute," so drive carefully if you have to be out.

"Motorists need to be especially careful on bridges and overpasses where slippery spots can easily develop," the weather service warns.
