FHS Dean of Students Named New IAR Assistant Principal

Theodore Donahue to join Interim Principal Mac Campbell in leading middle school.

Farmington schools have got all their ducks in a row for the start of the fall semester. Though earlier this year, Irving A Robbins Middle School was facing vacancies for both the principal and assistant principal positions. Kathleen C. Greider, Superintendent of the Farmington Public Schools announced this morning that Theodore A. Donahue, current Dean of Students at Farmington High School, would take over as IAR assistant principal.

Donahue began his teaching career in Farmington in 2000, was promoted to leader of the social studies department in 2006. In 2009, he was appointed FHS dean of students, in which role he split his time between teaching and directed and supported faculty and students. In addition, he has been involved in developing new curriculum and served as the co-chair of the Capstone Project Committee and chair of the NEASC Accreditation Committee.

In a statement, Greider said Donahue has proved himself to be an outstanding leader, supervisor and curriculum specialist.

“We are extremely pleased to have Mr. Donahue join the Irving A. Robbins school leadership team. …He has successfully coached teachers in several academic departments by drawing on his exceptional knowledge of best practices in teaching. He is a regular planner and co-presenter with the Farmington’s Curriculum Academy and he coaches teachers who are writing curriculum. His commitment and dedication to the students and families of Farmington is unwavering, and he will be a true asset to the Irving A. Robbins school community.”

Donahue said, “Having visited Irving A. Robbins Middle School many times and seen firsthand the outstanding instruction and support that teachers and staff provide students, I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to work alongside, and learn from, such dedicated, caring professionals. I’m very excited about becoming a member of the IAR community and getting to know the students and their families.”

Donahue’s official first day as Assistant Principal of Irving A. Robbins Middle School will be August 22. He will join .

Greider said the district would look to fill Donahue's former position as dean of students at Farmington High School in the next few weeks.
