FHS Student Honored With President's Council Award

Tyler Hoffman selected to receive President's Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition Community Leadership Award for work with children.

The President’s Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition (PCFSN) has selected Tyler Hoffman to receive a 2012 PCFSN Community Leadership Award.  The award is given annually to individuals who improve the lives of others within their community by providing or enhancing opportunities to engage in sports, physical activities, fitness or nutrition-related programs.

Tyler designed an after school exercise and nutrition program for elementary school children called (Tyler's Exercise and Activity Mission). He ran the program twice per week for 12 weeks. The program's 45 minute sessions consisted of a dynamic warm-up, fitness stations, teambuilding games, a cool down period, and discussions on healthy eating.

“It is our pleasure to present this award to Tyler Hoffman says Shellie Pfohl, executive director of the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition.  “Individuals like Tyler are working tirelessly to encourage physical activity and proper nutrition to positively impact the health of their communities. Together we are all working to make our nation a healthier one.”

"Tyler is very deserving of this award for improving the health and fitness of younger students," said his school counselor, David Berrill.  "He saw a need and then organized and led a program that was both fun and purposeful."

This year, the President’s Council presented the Community Leadership Award to 47 individuals across the country for making sports, physical activity, fitness, and nutrition-related programs available in their communities.
