IAR Students Learn About Careers

On Friday, April 12, eighth graders at Irving A. Robbins Middle School had the opportunity to explore potential careers during IAR’s second annual Career Day program organized by the school counselors.

Students chose from a roster of twelve different speakers, including a physician, a firefighter, a broadcast journalist, a chef, a realtor and a lawyer, to name just a few.  Students attended two half-hour presentations in which they had an opportunity to hear and ask questions about speakers’ careers and career paths, including the skills, education and training needed for each job.

Among the popular speakers were Eric Parker, morning news anchor for Channel 3’s Eyewitness News; Billy Grant, owner of Grants and Bricco restaurants in West Hartford; and Officer Stan Lada, youth officer for the Farmington Police Department.
