Newbery Author Visits West Woods Students

PTO-funded presentations focused on encouraging student writing.

Last week, students at West Woods Upper Elementary School in Farmington hosted the 2012 Newbery Medal winner - Jack Gantos.   

On May 3 and 4, Mr. Gantos shared with students and staff his thoughts on receiving the Newbery Medal. Through presentations during the two days, Mr. Gantos talked about setting up a journal and then pulling ideas from the journal to work into a short story.

The visit was funded by the West Woods PTO and Farmington Public Schools.
