Southington, Avon and Simsbury Earn Awards at Robotics Competition

Teams compete in a regional competition at the Hartford Convention Center.

Three Farmington Valley teams won awards Saturday at the  Northeast Utilities FIRST Connecticut Regional Robotics Competition at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford.

The competition drew dozens of teams from around Connecticut and five other states. One team came from Brazil. Each team had six weeks to build a remote-controlled robot from a kit of parts, with no instructions.

According to results posted on the CT FIRST website, the CyberKnights team from Southington High School and the team representing the Berlin High School and McGee Middle School were among the top three finishers. The combined team of two high schools for West Windsor and Plainsboro, N.J. was also among the top three.
