Farmington High School Madrigal Singers Visit Middlewoods of Farmington

On Wednesday evening, April 9th, an elite group of vocalists from Farmington High School (FHS) entertained a “standing room only” assembly of residents at Middewoods of Farmington Assisted and Independent Living Community. After attending “The Sound of Music” at Farmington High School a few weeks earlier, residents were delighted to welcome the Madrigal Singers, led by Ms. Leslie Imse, Director of Music for the Farmington school system, for an evening of music in their home.

Imse introduced her student vocalists with a personal, educational and musical biography for each, expressing the passion and commitment of her music department for ensuring that Farmington’s seniors have access to quality musical programming. The Madrigal singers began each choral piece by a vocal note or pitch pipe note, but with one exception. During one of the musical pieces, “guest conductor,” Charlotte Harper, a Middlewoods resident, led the Madrigals with her perfectly succinct right arm movements which did not go unnoticed by Imse. After several pieces of musical literature, the students concluded their performance by visiting with residents in attendance and finished the evening with the song Harper had previously conducted. It was a perfect evening of music, with both residents and students alike enjoying one another’s talent and company.
