Thank you for your generous support of Meals on Wheels!

Farmington’s schools collected more than $3,500 in extra change during Farmington Services for the Elderly’s March for Meals drive in support of its Meals on Wheels program.

At each school, the classroom that collects the most money to donate to Meals on Wheels wins a pizza party.  Naples and George’s Pizzas generously makes its pies available to Farmington Services for the Elderly at a discounted cost. This year Farmington Farms Preschool also got involved in this campaign and raised more than $100. Town businesses were also asked to help and generously contributed more than $4,000.

Year after year, West District Elementary School collects more money than any other school.  Their change came to $1,587.50- a 40% increase over last year, and Mrs. Albrecht’s class collected the most in the school, $303.65- and more than any other classroom in the school district.

Year-round, more than 160 volunteers across generations help their friends and neighbors through the Meals on Wheels program, bringing nutritious, balanced meals and a friendly hello to homebound clients.  Services for the Elderly’s volunteers deliver more than 7,000 meals each year.

“In this tough economy, the food and human contact we provide to seniors in our community is appreciated more than ever. Our Meals on Wheels volunteers reach out to those in need and touch lives and lift spirits,” said Walker.
