5th Farmington Rotary 5K Road Race Slated for Sept. 30

One Mile Fun Walk/Run added to annual race.

Submitted by The Rotary Club of Farmington

It’s that time of year again when the air is beginning to cool and the runners set their marks. And as it has for the previous four years, The Rotary Club of Farmington will again host its annual 5K Road Race. Except this year, there will also be a one-mile “Fun Walk/Run” just before the 5K version. As usual, the event is scheduled to coincide with the annual Unionville Festival on Sunday, Sept. 30.

“We’ve noticed in the past that a lot of kids and older walkers or less avid runners want to participate, but they’re not up to competing in the 5K road race. So this year, we decided to give them their own event, a one mile walk/run that’s just for fun,” said Thomas Cook, co-chair of the event along with Doug Kartsen. The Fun Walk/Run was the brainchild of Cook and Irene Engel, another member of the Road Race Committee.
