Berlin Bears A and B Win

C and D teams fall in close defeats.


A Team

Berlin 43, East Hampton 7

The Berlin Bears A team scored on its first three possessions and coasted to a 43-7 victory over East Hampton Sunday afternoon at Sage Park. The Bears have won 3 games in a row to improve their record to 5-2.

The Bears offensive line dominated openings up large holes the entire game. Cole Wendehack, Spencer Duke, Nick Lojko, Quinn Burns and Nathan Graves all played well. Jarrett Gdovin, Marc D'Amore and Nick Zuk ran the ball well for the Bears.

The Berlin defense was also dominant allowing only a late fourth quarter score. Noah Villella, Dylan Friedman, JJ Moss, Steven Bienkowski and Michael Pasczcuk anchored the Bears defensive line.

The Bears complete their regular season schedule with a road game in Durham Sunday.

B Team

Berlin 35, East Hampton 0

Berlin took its first possession down the field and Alex Halkias ran one in from 18 yards out. Giancarlo Tufano split the uprights with the point after attempt making the score 8-0.

Shortly after Halkias ran in another score from nine yards out and Tufano split the uprights to put the Bears ahead 16-0. The next score came via the defense when Kevin Stafstrom stripped the East Hampton running back of the ball and returned it for a 15-yard touchdown. This put the Bears ahead 22-0. The next score came by air attack. Sam Capodice hooked up with Tyler Cop on a 15-yard touchdown pass. Tyler Dinkins scored on the conversion from seven yards out to put the Bears ahead 35-0.

The Bears had an out standing day of defense keeping the Hawks out of the end zone all game. Matt Reilly and Connor Giudice both had interceptions, and the defense combined for multiple sacks on the quarterback. This improves the Bears to 5-1 and keeps them in first in their division.

The Bears play Durham in Durham next Sunday.

C Team

East Hampton 22, Berlin 20

East Hampton scored with 40 seconds left in the game to take the lead and held on for a 22-20 victory over the host Bears.

D Team

East Hampton 13, Berlin 7

The Bears scored first and led 7-0 but never got in the end zone again in a dropping a touch game to East Hampton.

Jamie Palmese had a strong game for Berlin scoring a touchdown and intercepting a pass. Ben Roe and Dan Veronesi had good games on defense for the D team Bears.
