Farmington Field Hockey Athletes and Coaches Honored

After great season, five students recognized at All-State banquet.

Five Farmington High School field hockey players were honored with All-State Team recognition at the Aqua Turf on December 6, 2011. Senior Kaitlyn Murray and junior Jamie Bartucca were honored as All-State First Team selections; this is their second year being awarded All-State First Team distinction. Senior Gina Vagnini and junior Jaden James were honored as All-State Second Team selections, and senior Sydney Horen was honored as an All-Scholar Athlete.  All five of these players were instrumental in their teams’ 15-2 successful season.  Farmington earned the No. 2 overall seed in the Class M field hockey tournament and advanced to the quarterfinals before falling 0-1 to Branford.  

Kaitlyn Murray has also been named to the Harrow Sports/NFHCA High School All-Region Team; in addition she was the recipient of the Senior All-Star Game MVP award for the East team. Kaitlyn will continue her field hockey career at the College of Holy Cross next year.  

Farmington Head Coach Nelle Andrews was honored as the Connecticut Class M Coach of the Year while Assistant Coach Jenn Wood was honored with the Connecticut Assistant Coach of the Year. Both Coach Andrews and Coach Wood are very dedicated to the players and their development as both individuals and field hockey players.
