Farmington Girls Soccer to Face Avon in Finals

Farmington passed Bethel to advance to Class L Championship.

The Farmington Indians defeated the Bethel Wildcats 1 - 0 at Falcon Field in Meriden on Friday night, to reach the Class L final of the CIAC High School Girls Soccer Championship.

In an evenly contested game with few clear cut scoring opportunities, Farmington scored the winning goal 10 minutes into the second half. From a corner kick, co-captain Chynna Jarrett attacked a loose ball in the penalty box and scored with a low shot into the corner from 6 yards out.

The game kicked off at 8:30 pm, with the outdoor temperature near freezing, on a turf field. The cold, slick conditions often made it difficult for players on both teams to control and accurately pass the ball. Both defenses were well organized, and each goalkeeper handled the slippery ball with confidence. Bethel (11-5-4) pressed hard in the closing minutes, but Farmington defended well as a team and effectively retained possession to close out the game and reach their first state final since 2007.
