Farmington High School Cheer Team Takes Second at Warrior Challenge

Eleven teams competed at Windsor High School Feb. 16.

Thanks to hard work and dedication to their sport, the Farmington High School Cheer Team won second place at the 10th Annual Windsor Warrior Challenge on Saturday, Feb. 16 at Windsor High School. 

The FHS Varsity Cheer Team along with 11 other squads from Connecticut High Schools participated in the All Girl Division. Each performance included dancing, cheering, tumbling and stunting to music.  

Following the competition, nearly 400 cheerleaders were led to the performance mat in the center of the gym to hear the judges' decision and wait for the for the awards ceremony. Each team sat in a circle, holding their teammates hands as they waited for the results to be announced.

While the the Farmington High School Varsity Cheer Team was awarded a well deserved Second Place, Coach Trisha Hooth said there was more to the team than just their performance.

"The long hours and hard work these young ladies put into training for the competition pales in comparison to their love for the sport and their teammates. I am so proud of each and every one of them," Hooth said.

This is the first time since 2010 the FHS Cheer Team has participated in a cheer competition.  

FHS Varsity Cheer Team members include: Captains: Courtney Bedard and Alexis Amaral; Whitney Samuels, Maggie Crean, Carly Levy, Amanda Morgan, Juney Ha, Dalia Fredette, Brianna Goz, Gabriella Giannone, Kaylee Drab, Olivia Vallen, Sarah Held, Haley Conrad, Emma Ingvertsen, Emma Geissler, Jakyra Jenkins
