Farmington Soccer Wins Second Consecutive Shutout Class L Title

The Farmington High School boys soccer team played Joel Barlow in the finals of Connecticut's CIAC State Tournament.

After a 5-0 state tournament championship win over Avon last fall, the Farmington boys soccer team continued on its shutout streak in the finals with a 4-0 victory over Joel Barlow.

It was the second consecutive Class L title for Farmington High School. According to the Hartford Courant, the program has won 11 state tournaments, the eighth for coach Steve Waters.

Farmington was already in the lead 42 seconds into the game off of Sabri Akter, who scored after retrieving the ball Joel Barlow kicked out of its defensive end, according to the Courant. He then netted a one-timer off of a rebounding ball with 32:08 left in the half, the newspaper reported. Seniors Matt Sroka and Colin Cheesman scored the last two goals in the second half, further securing the win.

Congratulations, Farmington!
