FHS Girls Golf Team Readies for Season at Hilton Head

Spring vacation spent practicing on the green is paying off.

For the third year in a row, members of the FHS Girls Golf team, (Jenn Whaley, Jamie Bartucca, Haley Campbell, Kate Kallam, Michele Sangeloty, Kate Fagan, Kelly Whaley, Annie Harris, Larkin Meehan and honorary team member Phoebe Brinker) did not go on school trips to France or Spain nor did they head to Florida beaches as most of their friends did. Instead these girls opted to take a break from school activities and take personal time to concentrate on their golf game. The girls packed up their clubs and headed to Hilton Head with their parents for a week of countless hours of golf, practice and more golf to prepare for their high school spring season.

Under the guidance of their Golf Mom, golf pro Suzy Whaley, the girls spent countless hours having fun honing their chipping, putting and driving skills on some of the most gorgeous golf courses they could ever play on. There were daily competitions to be won, bragging rights to be shared and some Happy Gilmore moments with the local alligators as well.

All in all the girls had a week of intense golf and are ready to strive for their goal of taking back their State Championship title in June. The team is very excited to have the sister duo of senior Jenn Whaley and freshmen Kelly Whaley competing together this season before Jenn heads to Quinnipiac University to play for the Bobcats and Kelly heads to the International Junior Golf Academy in Hilton Head for her sophomore year. In addition to the Whaley girls, the team also fortunate to have strength and depth in their line up from Michelle Sangeloty, Jamie Bartucca, Haley Campbell, Kate Fagan, Annie Harris, Kate Kallam, Larkin Meehan and Amy Tomasso.
