Akter's Brace Leads Farmington Past Conard 3-1
With the victory, Indians edge closer to clinching to CCC West.
The Farmington High boys soccer team took a commanding lead in the CCC West with a 3-1 victory over Conard at McKee Stadium in West Hartford on Wednesday.
Sadri Akter was the offensive star, scoring two goals for the Indians, who opened a two-game lead on Conard in the CCC West.
Farmington improved to 8-1-2 in the conference (10-1-2 overall), while Conard fell to 7-3-1 in the CCC West (9-3-1 overall).

After some initial pressure from Conard, Farmington broke through with two goals in the first half to take a 2-0 lead.
Matheus Souza scored Conard’s only goal, a 15-yard, turnaround laser that closed the gap to 2-1 in the 37th minute.

The equalizer never came, however, as Farmington pulled away in the second half on Fresher’s second goal.
The difference, according to Farmington High head coach Steve Waters, is his team’s competitiveness. Indeed, the Indians seemed to out-hustle their opponents, winning 50/50 balls and frequently beating the Chieftains to the ball.
“There’s a competitiveness that this group has that has a traditional flavor to it,” Waters said.
Conard High head coach Adam Linker agreed that the Indians were more successful at winning challenges.
Linker said that the Chieftains have to put the loss behind them and look forward to Newington.
“We have to try to clinch our spot for second place for a spot in the CCC tournament,” Linker said. “We have to ensure some steps for the postseason.”Correction: The original post incorrectly identified the Farmington High goal scorer. Patch regrets the error.
