The Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run passed through Farmington Thursday early afternoon.

The three-day run, which includes several legs or routes, concludes Friday at the opening of the 2013 Special Olympics Summer Games at Southern Connecticut State University.

About 15 to 20 town of Farmington employees and police officers ran, according to Farmington police Lt. Marshall Porter. The torch run arrived in Farmington near the intersection of Route 6 and Camp Street around 2:30 p.m.

Farmington officers were part of Leg 6, which started in Seymour and passed through Beacon Falls, Waterbury, Wolcott, Bristol, Farmington, West Hartford and Hartford. The different legs of Thursday's torch run ended at the State Capitol.

The event raises funds through merchandise sales and sponsorships. This year businesses and individuals could sponsor a mile or several. Find out more at http://www.soct.org/torch/.
