The U Takes Two From Terryville

At the first home stand of the season, June 17, Unionville took two games from Terryville Post 20 in closely fought contests at Tunxis Mead Park in Farmington.

In game one of the double header David Kerlezja pitched seven effective innings for Unionville limiting Terryville’s offensive opportunities.  Final score was Unionville 3, Terryville 0.

Unionville’s first run came in inning three when Travis Kozak hit a bouncing grounder over second base; Johnny Arcidiacono singled Kozak to third and he scored on an overthrow to first base on the next play.

Unionville left two runners on in the fourth but posted two more runs in the fifth. Lead off batter Kozak walked, stole second and was singled home by Mac Crispino’s fly ball to the gap in center.  Crispino scored on singles by Kerlezja and Jimmy Mulpeter.

Juan Rojas, Mulpeter and Crispino shared the pitching duties to lead Unionville to a 5-4 victory over Terryville in game two. Crispino earned the win.

Terryville was first on the scoreboard with one run in the second and another in the third.

In their half of the third frame, Unionville posted two runs to tie the score and put up two more to take the lead in the fourth.

Terryville tied the score at 4 with a run in the fifth and the sixth.

In the bottom of the seventh, Max Spracklin led off with a single; Crispino worked a walk and next up David Kerlezja smoked one to the center field wall for a walk off single. 

Game two offensive contributions:  Johnny Arcidiacono and Max Spracklin each had a double, a single and a run scored.  Travis Kozak had a single, a sac fly and a run scored.  Matt LeBlanc had a single and a run scored. Kerlezja and Crispino singled. Harry Pacheco had a run scored.   

Unionville will be back in action on Tuesday, June 19 against Burlington at Central Connecticut State University in New Britain.  First pitch is 5:45 p.m.
