Independence Day Observance to Feature Singer-Songwriter

Farmington Historical Society will host tribute to veterans and servicemen July 1.

Don Sineti of Bloomfield, a versatile singer, songwriter and instrumentalist, will entertain at the Farmington Historical Society’s celebration of American independence on Sunday, July 1.

The program will be from 2 to 4 p.m. at the society’s headquarters, 138 Main St., Farmington.  Besides Sineti’s music and a sing-along of patriotic songs, the event will include a tribute to veterans and active servicemen.  Admission is free.

Sineti, who accompanies himself on the five-string banjo and concertina, presents songs in many genres: folk, maritime, bluegrass and Celtic. He is a sea chantey singer at Mystic Seaport Museum and was a music consultant to Twentieth Century Fox for the 2003 movie “Master and Commander: the Far Side of the World.”

He also is an illustrator whose pictures of marine mammals have been widely exhibited.
