Unionville 8 Simsbury 7

Senior Legion Baseball Unionville Post 32 on 2012-29-06

It’s always an exciting contest when Unionville and Simsbury face off and Friday night, June 29 was no exception.  The boys from Post 32 once again defeated Simsbury in a dramatic conclusion.

Unionville lit up the scoreboard in their half of the first inning to post 5 runs on 4 hits.  Inning three saw another two runs go up for The U.  The Simsbury squad battled back and plated two runs in the fifth, three in the sixth and tied the score at 7 in the top of the seventh inning.

In the bottom of the seventh frame Unionville needed to dig down deep to score. First batter struck out; second up, Travis Kozak, worked a walk putting the winning run on first base.  Next to the plate was the number one spot hitter, Johnny Arcidiacono, who blasted the ball to deep center field. The throw to home was right on the money but Kozak, who rounded the bases with lightning speed, slid head first under the tag for a walk off win for Unionville.
