Important Dates for Fall & Keep Reading during Summer!

From Principal Lynn Katz's Blog:

Please mark your calendars for these important dates:

August 9-Placement letters will be mailed
The week of August 19: Teachers return for professional development, meetings, and setting up their classrooms.
August 21-New Family Night sponsored by the PTO. This event is for new families with children in grades 1-4. This is not for new Kindergarten families.
August 23-Kindergarten orientation 8:30 a.m. for morning Kindergarten classes, 9:00 a.m. for our afternoon Kindergarten class.
August 23-OPEN HOUSE-For Grades 1-4, 2:30-3:30. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet and greet teachers, check out your children’s new classroom, say hello to our back our specials teachers and specialists, greet old friends and meet new ones. The PTO will also be setting up the cafeteria to provide information, answer questions, and sell Spirit Wear. Please make time to stop in after visiting classrooms.
August 26-First day of school for all students. Join us at 8:45 a.m. for our traditional flag raising and clapping in ceremony. Students will line up starting at 8:30, with their teachers and parents may congregate in front of the school.
Sept. 2-No School, Labor Day
Sept. 5-No School, Rosh ha Shana
Sept. 12-Curriculum Night. This important event is for parents only, however our EXCL staff will provide childcare for school-aged children. More information will be sent home during the first few weeks of school.

Remember to have your children read daily, and continue to read aloud to your children each night. Summer reading is the best way to prevent the summer slide and to assure your children are ready for a successful new school year.
