The Eighth Annual Lauren Avezzie Fun Run took place at Union School was Sunday, May 4, 2014. This event is attended by Union School students, alumni, parents, teachers, and staff.
Union School Physical Education Teacher Dave Avezzie, his wife Cindi and their daughter Alison, started the Lauren E. Avezzie Scholarship Fund when their daughter Lauren died in 2006. The Fun Run and a golf tournament raise thousands of dollars that go to causes Lauren was either involved with or cared about.
Union School students compete by grade — kindergarten through fourth — and there are races for men and women, too. This event is a great way to encourage exercise, have fun while exercising, and show school spirit.
It was a wonderful afternoon. Each participant received a Lauren Avezzie Fun Run t-shirt, a Lauren Avezzie Fun Run ribbon or medal, a popsicle and a thank you certificate. Unionville Autobody provided popcorn for everyone.
