Boy Scouts Host Relay for Life Tag Sale Today

Troop 170 has been working since February to raise money for American Cancer Society.

Boy Scout Troop 170 is holding a tag and bake sale at the First Church of Christ Unionville today from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to benefit the American Cancer Society. The troop’s Relay for Life team, the Wizards of Oz, have been raising money since February. Earnings from a Pinewood Derby started the ball rolling with $193.41. A weekly penny war loose change collection is ongoing.  The scouts collect deposit cans and bottles year round; to arrange a pickup, contact the scoutmaster at 860-233-3083; email t558b@aol.com.

Since 2004, the troop has collected $37,924.58 in donations for the American Cancer Society and have been actively involved in the Farmington Relay. For Troop 170, its not a nameless face on a billboard; we have lost two moms and a dad in the last five years to cancer. The troop relay’s to find a cure, to create more birthdays, and to provide support for the survivors.

Are you a cancer survivor?  Come to Relay for Life at Farmington High School on May 19. For more information, visit www.relayforlife.org/farmingtonct. For specific questions, email: Farmingtonrelayforlife@gmail.com.
