Farmington Clean-Up Day and Frog Fest Today

Two annual green events taking place in town today.

Today is the Farmington Garden Club's 15th annual Farmington Clean-Up Day, which calls residents into action to beautify the town by removing trash. To liven up the day, the Garden Club is holding a competition, challenging teams of residents to see who can pick up the most trash. The winners, in the categories of families, clubs and school groups, will be rewarded with pizza from Flatbread, in addition to bragging rights.

To get started and pick up trash bags, gloves and refreshments, residents can stop by one of three locations: the , and the . Head back to have your trash weighed.

Also at the library, Cintas will shred your documents, while MDC will have Household Hazardous Waste drop-off at Farmington High School and Green Monster eCycling of West Hartford, sponsored by the Farmington High Booster
Club, will offer recycling for electronics, including computers, cell phones, TV’s, & DVD players.

The hours of collection at the three locations are officially 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Irving A Robbins' Green Team will also host Frog Fest today, this year at the Farmington Library from noon to 3 p.m. The event for preschool and elementary school children, will feature eco-friendly and educational games and activities as well as a bounce house, snakes and lizrds, prizes and giveaways.
