Farmington Rotary Club Honors Mark Fey’s Legacy

Named former town councilman a Paul Harris Fellow.

The Rotary Club of Farmington posthumously named former town councilman Mark Fey a Paul Harris Fellow at its annual meeting in June.

Named for the founder of Rotary International, the Paul Harris Fellow Award is the highest recognition Rotary bestows on its members and extraordinary citizens in the community.

Rotarians Norman and Ednalou Ballard sponsored the Mark Fey Paul Harris Fellowship by donating $1,000 to the Rotary International Foundation in his memory. They chose to highlight Mr. Fey’s involvement in mentoring and saving the Simmons Farm located on Town Farm Road.

In a moving tribute, Rotarian Judy Reardon recounted the many hours Mark spent helping the farm both as the Chair of the Town Council’s Farm Sub-Committee and as a private citizen after leaving the Council. As a life-long resident, his passion for preserving Farmington’s rich history was evident in the work he did for the farm.

In addition to being a member of the Farmington Town Council, Mark Fey was a local architect; a member of the Historic District Commission, Farmington Historical Society, and Village Green and Library Association; a soccer and baseball coach; and an enthusiastic promoter of the town of Farmington.

Although Mark passed away in February, his legacy of community service will not be forgotten.
