Farmington student Anna Preston awarded UTC/YMCA Youth Citizenship Award

Miss Porter's student recognized for outstanding volunteer service.

Anna Preston of Farmington was awarded one of four United Technologies/ YMCA Wesley A. Kuhrt Youth Citizenship Awards for Community Service at the YMCA of Greater Hartford’s recent annual meeting. The awards are made in memory of a man known for his outstanding volunteer and professional leadership, the late Wesley A. Kuhrt, who was president of Sikorsky Aircraft and a former United Technologies Corporation Senior Vice President.

Preston’s community service supports Not For Sale, a student abolitionist network dedicated to support for the victims of human trafficking, and education on the issue. Anna has served as one of the assistant event planners for the annual Freedom Walk supporting Not for Sale.

Anna has also dedicated her time and talents to Hoops for Hope, an organization that builds clinics for AIDS patients in Florida, and the Hartford City Mission, where she tutors inner-city children and leads group activities.
