Foodshare Partners with Farmington Food Pantry

Nonprofit helps Food Pantry at First Church of Christ in Farmington purchase shelves, scale.

With resources from its “Partnership Program”, Foodshare has worked with The Farmington Food Pantry to help them purchase four shelving units and a bench scale. This will enable them to expand their pantry and keep accurate records with a new scale.

The Farmington Food Pantry provides over 200 clients in Farmington with the ability to shop twice a month through client-choice – picking and choosing the items they need most. With a mission to provide a respectful, empowering environment, they have been serving the Farmington Valley Community for more than 30 years!

In addition to this recent collaboration, Foodshare provided 15,001 pounds of food to The Farmington Food Pantry in the past year to support its work to feed those individuals and families experiencing food insecurity in Hartford.

Foodshare’s “Partnership Program” was created by the organization’s Board of Directors to expand the work of Foodshare’s local food pantry, community kitchen, and shelter partners in areas critical to Foodshare’s goal of ending hunger in the region. Funds to support this partnership come in part from the annual Walk Against Hunger, from which Foodshare sets aside 5% of all donations for this purpose.
