Letter: Thank You to Relay For Life Participants from the American Cancer Society

Volunteers, sponsors made event, which raised $285,000, possible.

Dear Editor:

On behalf of the American Cancer Society, I would like to extend my appreciation to the volunteer committee as well as all who attended and supported the . More than 1,300 people participated, raising more than $285,000 for the American Cancer Society’s research, education, advocacy, and service programs. The outstanding support received proves that the Farmington community is truly committed to the fight against cancer.

I want to applaud the 119 cancer survivors who participated in the opening lap and reception in their honor. They are the reason we continue the fight, because each year there can be more and more people living wonderful lives after a cancer diagnosis.

A special thanks to the many Relay For Life volunteers who worked to make this event a success. We also appreciate the generosity of our sponsors, including Farmington Bank, Tunxis Hose, People’s Bank, Uconn Health Center and Hartford Hospital.

Again, thank you for supporting the American Cancer Society, and remember it’s not too late to become involved with the American Cancer Society. There are many opportunities to volunteer your time helping patients and implementing programs here in Connecticut. For more information please call us at 1-800-227-2345 or visit cancer.org.

Sincerely,
