Man Who Gave Spielberg and Day Lewis Gettysburg Tour to Speak Locally

The Avon Historical Society hosts Crossroads of History and Hollywood event on Lincoln the man and the movie and other news.

Happy Monday, Farmington! Here's a look ahead at this week. 

Dream RideThe motorcycle ride Special Olympics fundraiser starts at 9 a.m. at The Farmington Club on Aug. 25. 

Author Talk at Farmington Public Library: Conor Grennan, who wrote Little Princes: One Man's Promise to Bring Home the Lost Children of Nepal will speak at 7 p.m. at the library on Aug. 22.

Free Blood Pressure Meeting: There will be a blood pressure screening on Aug. 21 at 9 a.m. at the Farmington Public Library.  

The Crossroads of History and Hollywood: David Ward, Civil War Tours president, is coming to the Avon Free Public Library to talk about giving Stephen Spielberg and Daniel Day Lewis a tour of Gettysburg and the history of Lincoln's visit there. The event starts Tuesday, Aug. 20 at 7 p.m. and more information is available on the town website.

Caregiver Support GroupThe Farmington Valley VNA will host the event at 2:30 p.m. at the Avon Senior Center.
