Bernie Erickson, Farmington Board of Education Member, supports William Baker for Board of Education

I am thrilled to support William Baker for Farmington’s Board of Education. As a current Board of Education member, I know that Bill will be a terrific addition to the team. Bill is one of the most intelligent, thoughtful and energetic people I know. Since I have known Bill, he has worked hard to promote a great quality of life for all Farmington residents through participation in multiple civic organizations, boards and committees. All the while, he was serving in the armed forces reserves, including deploying to Iraq. Bill’s commitment to public service is second to none.

As the parent of a 2012 and 2013 Farmington High School graduates, who are now in college, Bill understands the importance of the Board’s job to ensure all students are capable of acquiring the knowledge, skills and dispositions needed for productive, ethical and responsible citizenship in an evolving world community and he will work tirelessly to ensure this for our students.

Bill listens carefully to residents’ concerns and makes informed decisions that are in the best interest of all, which is a characteristic our elected officials need in today’s environment and especially on a Board of Education!

Bill believes that every child in Farmington deserves a top rate high quality education. It is one of the main reasons he chose to raise his family here and he knows the significance of a quality school system’s impact on the entire community.

As the husband of a public school, elementary teacher, Bill knows that teachers matter! To him: “It’s just that simple.” Bill is committed to staffing smart and policies that determine how teachers are trained. Teacher education and training is especially important to Bill and he will provide the necessary support for professional development in essential areas such as technology, teaching methods and new assessment systems.
