East Farms School

Flag as Inappropriate

East Farms, one of Farmington's four K-4 elementary schools, was closed for a while because it was not needed. In the past few years, enrollment has increased dramatically, making it the largest school in the district. Under the direction of Principal Renee St. Hillaire, class sizes continue to average around 20 students, with aides in lower-grade classes providing extra support to teachers and to students with special needs.

Students at East Farms score well on Connecticut Mastery Tests, thanks to dedicated teachers and Farmington's trademark rigorous curriculum. Special programs like reading recovery for grades 2 to 4 and an early-intervention math program for first graders are also in place to ensure every child keeps up.

East Farms is surrounded by trees and edged by a pond used for science observation. It is also across the street from Irving A. Robbins Middle School and near UConn Health Center.

As with all the elementary schools, Extended Care and Learning offers before and after school care for the children of working parents.
