Donna and Joe Torre opened the first Praline Ice Cream in 1984. They have received the Record Journal Reader ChoiceMore Award every year since 2003. The shop offers cakes, pies, novelties, soft-serve, frozen yogurt, fat-free and sugar-free products. The ice cream is still made locally in Wallingford, CT, at its manufacturing facility.

Praline Ice Cream is located on the upper level of the Westfarms Mall, next to Macy's.

Naples Pizza, a family-owned business since 1995, is located right next to Starbucks. Naples started as a smallMore take-out store then grew into a full-service restaurant that specializes in Napolitan style pizza, calzones, panini, grinders, salads and more.

All of the ingredients are fresh including the pizza dough which is made daily. There are also wines, beers and the locally famous Foxon Park Soda from East Haven. The restaurant also offers a Kid's Menu.

There is an outside patio as well.

Jim's 19th Hole at Westwoods, located at the town-owned golf course set on the south west side of town, is aMore friendly meeting place before or after a round of golf. Jim has been the restaurant manager since 2006, and enjoys meeting and greeting the local golf crowd. He can arrange private parties and events out on the links or inside the restaurant. Chili dogs, salads, burgers, nachos, onion rings and sandwiches are made to order, and you can enjoy them all with beer, wine or a cold soft drink. Easy access to the adjacent pro shop makes it a convenient stop to pick up a bite to eat and stock up your golf bag at the same time.

Pizzeria Pomodoro is located on Farmington Avenue, right across the street from Tunxis Fore Driving Range and GolfMore Shop. A cozy place to eat, Pizzeria Pomodoro creates pies that are menu specific, but they have more than just pizza.

On the menu are also salads and paninis made on ciabatta bread. Around seven years old, Pizzeria Pomodoro supports the local Farmington produce business by using native tomatoes and basil, among other ingredients for their pies.

In addition to the eight tables, there is bar type seating and stools.

Five Guys Burgers and Fries

The parking lot at Five Guys Burgers and Fries always seems to be full. Ever since 2008 when they opened theirMore doors locally, across from Tunxis Community College,  this joint has been jumping. Big burgers and fabulous fries seem to be just what local diners wanted. The burgers are made from 100 percent fresh ground beef, with no fillers or preservatives, and can be ordered with a variety of toppings, including grilled or fresh onions, mushrooms, and peppers, with added cheese, bacon, tomato, lettuce or pickles. Overfilled cups of fries, served Five Guys Style or Cajun are cooked in peanut oil. Sacks of potatoes lined up along the front counter window remind you that you are getting your food fresh, and always made to order. If you are craving something other than a burger, try one of their Kosher style all beef hotdogs, with bacon or cheese, or a veggie or grilled cheese sandwich. While Five Guys has earned best burger ratings and awards across the country and is expanding quickly since it's first location in Virginia back in 1986, it's just nice knowing they are right here in Farmington.
