Phone: 508-209-3472 Hometown: Lakeville, Mass. Birthday: April 25 Bio Pat graduated from the University of Delaware in 2010 with a degree in Political Science and Journalism. While at Delaware, Pat worked as the Managing Sports Editor for UD's student newspaper, The Review. He also interned at Delaware Today, a lifestyle magazine in Wilmington, Del., and he wrote sports for the Philadelphia Inquirer. He is no stranger to community journalism, though. Pat has written for the Middleboro Gazette and other area weeklies in SouthCoast Massachusetts. In his spare time, Pat is an avid sports fan, from professional sports, to college, to high school. He is a loyal Red Sox, Celtics and Patriots fan, and he likes to follow his Alma Maters' sports teams at the University of Delaware and Apponequet High School. Your Beliefs At Patch, we promise always to report the facts as objectively as possible and otherwise adhere to the principles of good journalism. However, we also acknowledge that true impartiality is impossible because human beings have beliefs. So in the spirit of simple honesty, our policy is to encourage our editors to reveal their beliefs to the extent they feel comfortable. This disclosure is not a license for you to inject your beliefs into stories or to dictate coverage according to them. In fact, the intent is the opposite: we hope that the knowledge that your beliefs are on the record will cause you to be ever mindful to write, report and edit in a fair, balanced way. And if you ever see evidence that we failed in this mission, please let us know. Politics How would you describe your political beliefs? Are you registered with a certain party? I am a registered democrat who strongly believes in fiscal responsibility and a balanced budget while helping others and supporting the community. Most importantly, I believe in staying informed on issues and hearing all sides before taking a strong stance. Religion How religious would you consider yourself? (casual, observant, devout, non religious) I was raised as a Catholic. Local Hot-Button Issues What do you think are the most important issues facing the community? Where do you stand on each of these issues? Easton is a community undergoing a lot of changes, but there are also strong movements against disrupting the historic nature of the town. 40-B projects have been an issue of tension, as has the SouthCoast rail. Overall, I've admired Easton's ability to establish progress and development while maintaining a small-town identity, as I am a believer in striking a good balance.
