Farmington Police Arrest Father of Baby with Fractured Bones

Morsy M. Elzawawy, 29, of Farmington, faces charges of assault, reckless endangerment and risk of injury to a minor.

Farmington police arrested a Farmington father on an arrest warrant after learning that his 7-week-old baby was hospitalized with broken bones.

Morsy M. Elzawawy, 29, of 304 Colt Highway, Apt. 28, is scheduled to appear in court Monday on charges of first-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment and risk of injury to a minor. He posted his $250,000 surety bond.

The state's Department of Children and Families contacted the Farmington Police Department after Connecticut Children's Medical Center staff informed them "that they were treating a seven week old baby for multiple bone fractures," police said in the arrest log.

"The fractures were unexplainable by the parents of the child," police said.

Police arrested Elzawawy on Friday, Oct. 18 at 11:55 a.m.

Farmington police are still investigating the case. The baby and a sibling "have been removed from the Elzawawy home while the investigation continues," according to police.
