Farmington Police Charge Chicago Man with Sexually Assaulting Child
David Waite, 54, of Chicago, faces charges of risk of injury to a minor and sexual assault of a first victim under 13 years old.
Farmington police flew to Illinois last week to retrieve a Chicago man and take him into custody on charges of sexually assaulting a minor under 13 years old.
Chicago police took David Waite, 54, of 3951 North Hermitage, Apt. A, into custody on Oct. 3 on an outstanding warrant from the Farmington police department for risk of injury to a minor and sexual assault of a first victim under 13 years old. Farmington police arrested him on Oct. 11 at 3 p.m.
A juvenile made complaints to Farmington police about Waite "that cover several years of alleged abuse," police said in an arrest log released to media.
"The information being released is limited to what was in the arrest blotter this morning," Lt. Colin Ryan, public information officer for the Farmington Police Department, wrote in an email to multiple media outlets on Monday. "We have a juvenile victim, a sealed arrest warrant, and an on-going investigation that includes Illinois and New Jersey."
Police kept Waite in Cook County Correctional Facility in Illinois until Farmington police arrived. Farmington detectives retrieved Waite after he "waived extradition proceedings," Ryan said.
Farmington police brought Waite to Farmington on Friday and are holding him in custody on a $1 million bond.
Waite is scheduled to appear in Hartford Superior Court on Tuesday, Oct. 15.
