Peter Mastrobattista for First District Town Council

A third-generation Farmington resident, Peter’s roots in the community go back over 100 years.  His grandparents lived in town, as do his parents and many aunts and uncles today.  Peter’s wife of 20 years, Laura, also grew up in town.  Their children, Emma and Lily, attended Farmington Public Schools.  Peter is running for Town Council because he wants his children and future grandchildren to grow up in a town where community, responsibility and opportunity continue to be core values.

Peter’s commitment to public service spans over 20 years.  He served on the Farmington Volunteer Fire Department in different leadership positions:  as Deputy Chief for two years, Assistant Chief for six years, and Training Captain for four years.  Peter currently sits on the Town Planning and Zoning Board as an Alternate.

In public service, Peter places great importance on listening carefully to all sides while respecting the letter and spirit of the laws and regulations under a commission’s purview.  While serving in the Volunteer Fire Department, he was responsible for drafting and presenting the Town Center Firehouse’s operations budget.  Through that, he learned the “business” side of the town, including how large expenditures are approved and financed through the cooperation of various town committees and agencies.

Peter believes that Farmington succeeds not only because of its sense of community but also because of its disciplined financial management.  As a business owner and entrepreneur, he understands well the importance of fiscal responsibility.  Farmington is a unique and wonderful place to live, in part, because Republican leadership has stressed financial responsibility.  Even in difficult economic times, Farmington has continued to prosper, attracting new businesses and maintaining an award-winning school system because our town is well managed.  Peter would continue on this successful pathway, as he believes opportunities created by a great education and a vibrant local economy are not accomplished by flashy spending programs, but by meticulous planning and hard work.
